Update: Seems Dave put his site back up! He has a interesting post that should strike a cord for the informed.
Dave over at Scripting News is pissed and he has a right to be. Many of you that visit this site have no idea who Dave is. But some of you will in fact know who Dave is. The weblog community has succeeded because people worked together and Dave doing ground breaking work. There are elements of people out there that want to divide the community. It is sad and we will watch the developments. Does this effect Geek News Central not directly but we rely on the weblog industry leaders to work together and not each go there own separate ways. Dave has shut his site down and is taking a break I don’t blame him lets see how the weblog community at large reacts. [www.scripting.com]
Nothing is said about Dave Winer that isn’t due to the way Dave Winer acts and what Dave Winer says. If he wants less people to yell at him or less people to oppose him, maybe he should consider not being an ass all the time. He has the right to go on being an ass, and everyone else has the right to treat him like one.
I don’t agree, Dave is willing to work with people and he has a right to his strong opinions. People are trying to reinvent the wheel they had there chance before. The weblog community as a whole will loose if parties do not work together to have common standards.
