RFID tags which stores and manufactures are using to track real time inventory levels has received Microsoft’s backing. It is not entirely clear why they need to help set the standard for the information contained within these devices but I do know that these things have the capability to spy on us even more than we already are being spied on. I really don’t understand why they are needed for inventory control you would think that most Point of Sale systems would already be doing that. Someone that knows the advantage of the RFID tag over what is scanned tracked via the cash register clue me in. I wrote a article on this subject before and it is worth reviewing if you are a new reader. [Cnet]
