DirecTV going after Consumers with Summons

It appears that DirecTV is going after individuals that have purchased equipment that circumvents there signal in a big way. Slashdot ran an article today that referenced a site that DirecTV is trying to get shutdown. After looking around a bit it is apparent that there are a lot of scared people out there. I am going to provide my Link Trail so that you all can read what I have in sequence. All I can recommend is for those running or having purchased illegal DirecTV cards if you get a summons you better get a lawyer. From all of my reading on this it looks like that DirecTV’s General Counsel has obtained list of people who have made some purchases of equipment and is going after each of those individuals which will probably result in $10,000 dollar fines and with certain provisions could face up to $100,000 in fines. I am going to do some more research I am curious how DirecTV came up with the list of people who bought mod cards and such.

People need to realize that companies are serious about protecting there investment and I would not want to be having to fight off a company that has a boatload of lawyers.
