I have about 30 feet of Lan cable strung thru the house tonight. The WAP died and I’m pissed. I will have to dig for the receipt and find out how long the warranty is good for but I bet I will be forking out cash for another WAP tomorrow. So it will be very late in the afternoon my time before I can get over to the local Computer Shop so If you have a suggestion for a replacement let me know.
This is proof positive that I have became addicted to WiFi as I spent nearly 90 minutes trying to bring the damn thing back to life.
WAP11s are pretty cheap… $80 from multiple sources on http://froogle.com; It’s probably the fullest function access point available for the money. I just hope Linksys does the right thing and updates the firmware when the latest security standard for wireless finally settles down. I also wish that locustworld.com would hack a firmware load for the WAP11s, but I know it’s not likely to happen. I’ve also found the re-flashing the WAP11s sometimes brings them back to life, but I’m sure you tried this in you’re 90 miniutes of fooling around…
