I have been contemplating this for a long time and after seeing a system running dual screens last week. I am not so sure this is what I want to do. I would like to play around with a properly configured system to see if the dual monitors can be used efficiently. I can see some definite benefits in writing articles for this site as I am always doing the Internet Explorer shuffle. If you are thinking about implementing a dual screen solution do not try to install two video cards that will not work read on. [PC User Help Station]

the more the better. multi-monitor support is significantly better on the mac. I used to have 3 going . I would LOVE to get another one running here at work. It may be a pain on Windoze but I think it’s worth it.
I guess i could be called a gamer, hardcore to some respects, and with the games i play (rtcw, bf42, q3, mame) i have found no problems, with it displaying the game only on the main of the two monitors and leaving the otherone free to be used for whatever. On a dual head card i’ve found that some games however change the hardware gamma, which screws up the second monitors display until the game is quit – however as a lot of games do not allow you to switch out of the game this isn’t much of a problem.
I’m using a 21″ crt (1280×1024) + 15″ tft (1024×768) and don’t find there to be any problems at all with windowsXP, i mainly use the second monitor whilst doing video production work, and use the tft for video preview.. and ideal solution.
Dual monitors are great! I wouldn’t recommend them on a gaming system. But I have two 21″ Sony CRT’s at work hooked up with a dual head video card. I’m a web developer so it really helps me with my job. I can view code one one display while refreshing the site on the other display. I honestly don’t know how I did my job before I had dual monitor. I think I’ve worn out my ALT and TAB keys. :-)
Personally, I wouldn’t really advise it anyway. I used to have a dual-monitor system, but there’s some major downs to it – many games hate dual-monitors and become unplayable. Two monitors are never quite the same, so the colours will seem a bit off on one screen, which I found distracting. And it’s only like having an oversized desktop anyway, there’s still just the same amount of window-switching and whatnot to be done.
But hey, each to their own. :)
