Oh Boy those that have gotten a taste of Lindows are foaming at the mouth. If you like open source as much as I do you need to read this article. You thought the Apple versus PC battle was ugly wait till you read this. [Scobelizer]

I frankly don’t understand the LINDOWS hype and have taken much flack for my views. LINUX in general on the other hand RH, SUSE, MANDRAKE, LYCORISIS and others really (and I’ve toyed with these and others) peak my curiosity, and in my opinion could give MS some cause for concern. If I were going to switch my primary OS from WINDOWS to LINUX something along the lines of these would be more the route I’d take. Not LINDOWS. LINDOWS in my opinion is a lot like WINDOWS in as much as it is expensive and suscription based, of course this Robertson fellow is not targeting his product at a user like me instead he is going after the uninformed or partially informed PC user. I mean bland boxes with a proprietary subscribtion marketing model that makes available things that can be had otherwise for free. On top of that he unlike the REAL distros doesn’t seem to be pointing out of course since LINUX is open source software hardware compatability still is sometimes an issue since things tend to improve at a volunteer pace, but again he is going after a segment of people who probably won’t realize that until after they get their PC home. I mean how is Joe Consumer going to react when he realizes that slick new USB webcam he wants to transmit some pictures of his brother in laws new baby is incompatible with his NEW PC or the kids don’t really like it because none of the games at Walmart will run on it. I mean come on Mr Robertson at least be honest about what it is you are selling! Want an alternative Mr Joe Consumer my advice would be buy a MAC. Otherwise just get a cheap WINDOWS box for starters you can always try LINUX later when you’ve mastered this PC thing awhile and read and learned a little about the great WINDOWS versus the alternative OS fray.
Opps, all should be “oh”, I can’t type….
All ya, Microsoft is getting scared. Great link there.
