My folks live in a rural area. So rural in fact that you could run around in the yard naked if you wanted to and so long as you did not go hang out by the road you probably would not be seen.
Being they choose to live in the country they are stuck on dial-up as this is the only way to get on the Internet as DSL is not available. I have always wondered how I could get them broadband access without having to mortgage a home to get it installed.
Well a couple of Senators have proposed that with additional spectrum allocation and more powerful WiFi that this would be an alternative solution to the broadband woes of rural America.
This in my opinion is great news let’s see if anything happens of this proposed legislation. [News.com]
I think it’s a great idea as well. Both my parents live in rural areas and they are both weighing the very few and currently very expensive options for broadband. WiFi would be a much better solution than the limited options that are available now.
