With all the quirks windows has and the number of trojans out there it is really difficult to stay ahead of the hacker crowd. After learning the hard way a number or years ago I have adopted the philosphy that if a hacker want’s in bad enough he or she is going to get in. So the best thing one can do is maintain a precise library off-line of all important documents and cd’s of all software installed with license information so that you can recover without to much hassle.
I have a regular backup plan and also a system that keeps all of my installed software and drivers available in case it is needed. That aside I like to try and keep myself educated on security issues and have found a pretty good paper on Windows trojans.
