Thousands of geeks will be descending upon Las Vegas for DefCon 2002, which will be held Friday through Sunday at the Alexis Park Hotel. Last year’s DefCon ended with the arrest of Russian programmer Dmitry Sklyarov, for violating the Digital Millenium Copyright Act for creating software that removes user restrictions on encrypted Adobe e-books. Among the scheduled events for this year’s event include a “geeks with guns” shootout, all the usual security presentations, and Hacker Jeopardy. Attendees will have access to the hotel’s high-speed wireless network, and three Defcon channels over the hotel’s in house video system. [Source www.wired.com]
