When we where in the dark ages with 1200 baud modems and unsophisticated operating systems. Most computers were quite unaccessible simply because one had to dial into the system. Today with almost every computer on the Net and the wide availability of broadband individuals from wannabes to professional hackers have a huge resource to pull from. The 1000’s of available scripts and how too FAQ’s allow someone with some patience and willingness to read listen and learn to be a pretty good hacker and not just a script kiddie.
I remember recovering some information from my own PC one time in a act of self hacking that had it not been for the tool I would have lost some valuable information. I also have been the victim of a real hack and had a NT server hacked, the hard drives formated and left a nice text file with a message from the hacker calling me a expletive. Sure I was pissed but I also learned something and secured my next NT build correctly. Not that will stop someone that really wants in.
I ran across a professional write up that is informing on what is happening in today’s scene. [Source Information Security]
