Compound may stem stroke damage

My grandmother suffered a mild stroke a number of years ago. She has had several mini strokes since luckily she functions well for a 90+ elderly person and this is a topic that has peaked my interest over the past 3-4 years. With technology exploding the world of Science is exploding also yet it is not as sexy of a topic as some new tech item. But some smart scientist out there are doing some amazing things. A Article in MSNBC today states: Injections of a naturally occurring compound can prompt the growth of new nerve fibers, restoring some critical functions lost after a stroke, according to researchers who have tested the chemical on rats.
