I was jolted this morning when I realized that although Yahoo is including blogs in their regular news search be it in the margin, that I thought they had a direct way to get blog only results. Thier implementation is really weird, and you will see what I am talking about in the next paragraph. Unless I am missing something,
Nearly 1 am here but I wanted to get this on the street before I went to bed, I went through the Yahoo Podcast site for about an hour tonight, here are my conclusions. From a listeners stand point it will be a very good resource, people will be able to search and find specific topics they are looking for.
In a expected move Yahoo has launched their podcasting site, first glance and it looks pretty good but very similar to iTunes were they are highlighting a lot of comercial content. From information that is floating around the net to include e-mail people are getting it looks like Yahoo is about to join the directory space and will have a featured podcast section. With Yahoo becoming a content channel it only makes sense. Some podcasters have been warned by Yahoo that they should expect a bandwidth hit.
Rumors last leek led to speculation that Skype was being purchased by Yahoo, today it was announced that Yahoo purchased dialpad a relative unknown VOIP service. I am hopeful that Skype will not be purchased by Yahoo. Considering all of the quality employee's they have sucked out of Redmond recently the rumor last week did not make sense. [Yahoo]
Today, in direct competition with MSN and Yahoo!, Google, Inc. announced that users may create a personalized Google homepage for news, weather, cultural tidbits, and e-mail.
Spam is an ever-increasing annoyance for e-mail users. Most people have some form of spam filtering application that reduces the instances of the frequently offensive unsolicited commercial messages. Many of these filters seek to identify spam based on the address from which the message is sent, but spammers are already wise to this trick, and spoofing is now commonplace. By hiding or misdirecting their transmission source, spammers make it exceedingly difficult for most users to determine from where the spam message actually came.
