PapaGo’s Geko Smart Whistle is Keeping Things Safe at CES

Papago GekoA personal whistle may seem like a fairly old-fashioned thing to bring to an event like CES. But PapaGo’s new Geko smart whistle is anything but old-fashioned. Todd met with Paulina from PapaGo who listed out all of the features of this award-winning product.

The Geko smart whistle connects to a user’s mobile device via Bluetooth. If the user triggers the whistle, either by blowing thru it like a standard whistle, or pressing a button built into the whistle, the whistle sends a signal to the user’s phone, which in turn contacts three different people by text, e-mail, and telephone (phone calls available on Android devices only). These messages are predefined to let the recipients know that the sender is in trouble, along with a map of the sender’s location. When the whistle is triggered a second time, it sends an “all clear” message to let recipients know that the user is now safe.

The PapaGo Geko smart whistle is already available for purchase for $49.99. The whistle will send up to 30 messages for free, but users can purchase more messages if needed.

Papago is a Dashcam Frontrunner

Papago logoAmericans are just beginning to use dashcams in their vehicles (but they are commonly used outside of the United States). There are many good reasons to use one. Papago is the frontrunner when it comes to dashcams. Their dashcams not only record your drive but also have useful safety features.

Todd and Don spoke with Marketing Rep of Papago Inc., Rachel Quaill, at CES 2016. They discussed the many uses and features of Papago’s dashcams, and focused on the GoSafe S30. It is Papago’s higher end model in their GoSafe series.

The GoSafe S30 is super compact and lightweight. It has a Sony sensor, which, in conjunction with the GoSafe S30 high quality lens, gives you super high quality nighttime vision. The video it produces will not have the fish eye look. In addition, you can take the camera off the mount and use it to take photos.

You can mount the GoSafe S30 to your windshield either with a suction cup or a sticky mount (that is intended to be permanent). Plug the camera into your dashboard. You can set up the video resolution however you want, but 1080 HD is recommended. The camera will start recording (both video and audio) when your vehicle starts moving. If your car is hit, the GoSafe S30 will automatically write protect that file.

Safety features include stop sign recognition. The camera will alert the driver when a stop sign is coming up. It can also alert the driver when the car ahead of him or her has started moving. You can set a driver fatigue alarm to remind you to stop and take a rest. There is also a light reminder that tells you to turn on your headlights.

The GoSafe S30 is priced at $179.99 and is available now. Check the Papago website for a full list of retailers that sell the GoSafe S30.

The PAPAGO! Video Contest has Begun

PAPAGO! logoAre you an aspiring filmmaker? Do you enjoy taking videos of yourself, your friends, or your travels? The PAPAGO! video contest was designed for people just like you. Three winners will be given a GoSafe 200 dashcam.

The contest has already started. You have until August 31, 2014, to submit a storyboard of your video idea to PAPAGO! They ask you to submit it via Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube. They will select three winners from the submissions that are received.

Those winners will use the GoSafe 200 dashcam to video their storyboard idea. They will have until September 28, 2014, to submit the completed video to PAPAGO!, who will choose one top video. That winner will receive a $400.00 gift card (selected by PAPAGO!). The winner of the video contest will be announced by October 15, 2014.

There are, of course, rules and guidelines that must be adhered to. You can read more about them on the PAPAGO! website. I will point out just a few of the rules here. They encourage the contestants who are given a GoSafe 200 dashcam to be creative. “Take it out of the car. Record in the car. The possibilities are endless.”

The video must be 1 – 2 minutes in length and made from video footage that the contestant captures on the GoSafe 200. The videos will be highlighted on the PAPAGO! Website “and all social media platforms”. You must be 18 years of age (or older) and a legal resident of the United States or Canada in order to participate in this contest. Those who submit a video to the contest are giving PAPAGO! “the right to use their names, photographs, statements, quotes, testimonials, and video submissions for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without notification or further compensation.”

The GoSafe 200 has a 140 degree perspective and a unique slide-out LCD screen. It has an automatic start-up function and a motion detection feature that will enable the device to start recording once it detects movement. If you have a creative idea, now is your chance to enter the PAPAGO! video contest and, perhaps, win your very own GoSafe 200.
