LG Display Showcases Latest Proprietary OLED Innovations At CES 2024

LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced (on January 6, 2024) that it will unveil its latest OLED products based on proprietary technology that revolutionize customer values at CES 2024.

The company will operate two booths at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), with its main booth in the North Hall and an exclusive booth dedicated to automotive displays in the West Hall.

Under the theme of “A Better Future,” signifying the company’s various display solutions based on cutting-edge OLED technologies that can revolutionize consumer lifestyles, LG Display will present its latest large-sized OLED technology and next-generation automotive display solutions optimized for Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs).

At the main North Hall booth, LG Display will present various large-sized OLED technologies that surpass the limits of OLED picture quality and boast improved performance, including TVs, gaming monitors, and Transparent OLED’s.

Here, LG Display is set to unveil its latest OLED TV panel that pushes boundaries of OLED picture quality once again, featuring a significant enhancement from the innovative “META Technology,” an important milestone reached after a decade of OLED innovation.

The company showcased its proprietary ‘META Technology’ last year, which combines ‘Micro Lens Array (MLA),’ which maximizes the light emission from organic materials, with a brightness-enhancing algorithm to achieve the highest level of brightness of any existing OLED TV panel.

In addition, LG Display will also present its comprehensive lineup of gaming OLEDs spanning form 20 to 40 inches, including the high performance 27-inch QHD gaming OLED panel that features the world’s first 480Hz ultra-hight refresh rate for an OLED display. By generating a remarkable 480 frames per second, the 27-inch 480Hz QHD gaming OLED panel provides the optimal gaming experience with its smooth and sharp visuals, even during fast screen transitions.

The 34- and 39-inch panels offer an ultra-wide (21:9) aspect ratio for an immersive experience while the 31.5-inch panel supports a clear UHD (3840×2160) resolution that makes it not only suitable for gaming but also for office work and content consumption.

LG Display’s gaming OLED panels include millions of self-emitting pixels without a separate backlit source to boast high refresh rates and resolutions, as well as a fast response time of 0.03ms. In addition, the company has incorporated ‘META Technology’ into its OLED gaming displays to further enhance the overall image quality while minimizing external light reflections during darker scenes.

Furthermore, LG Display will present its full lineup of Transparent OLED’s, including the 30-, 55, and 77-inch displays, to present new shopping experiences to retail spaces by creating unique applications through the use of mid-sized and ultra large Transparent OLED panels.

As the world’s only manufacturer of Transparent OLED, LG Display maximizes OLED’s self-emissive nation to achieve a transparency rate high enough to seamlessly replace glass windows, portray accurate color expression, and provide flexibility that boost space utilization.

Transparent OLEDs are also suitable for indoor use thanks to their lower heat generation compared with conventional LEDs, while their versatility allows for installation in almost all spaces and interiors such as windows, walls, and floors of various sizes.

LG Showcases Smart Home Experience With HCA at CES 2023

LG Electronics (LG), a board member of the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA), will showcase a seamless smart home experience at CES 2023. Along with other HCA member companies, LG will demonstrate the interoperability enabled under the new HCS Specification 1.0, whereby smart home solutions from different brands work together seamlessly to deliver true connected convenience in the home.

Inside HCA’s booth at CES, LG will be exhibiting its latest smart home appliances – including the MoodUP refrigerator, WashTower laundry solution, ARTCOOL Gallery air conditioner, and Puri with Care AeroTower – together with those from other alliance members. Visitors will be able to see the realization of HCA’s “Any app to any device” vision, which presents users with the ability to manage each brand’s products via each brand’s smart control app, such as LG’s intuitive ThinQ app. This new level of interoperability is currently supported by HCA member companies including LG.

Utilizing existing industry standards to define Cloud-to-Cloud (C2C) interoperability guidelines, the new HCA Specification 1.0 has been established to ensure that home appliances, TVs and HVAC systems can interoperate seamlessly with one another, irrespective of brand. In addition to newly-launched models, consumers can continue using the smart home appliances and HVAC solutions, customers have already owned at home and are covered by HCA Specification 1.0, without having to install any major firmware updates.

Furthermore, HCA Specification 1.0 will help member companies to make the smart home more sustainable in the future, leveraging data collected from across the alliance members’ applications to gain insight into usage and improve energy management.

“As a member of HCA, LG is contributing to the realization of a safe, secure and interoperable connected home ecosystem,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Through collaboration and open innovation, we will continue to provide consumers with solutions for a smarter, more convenient way of living.”

Visitors to HCA’s booth (#52739, Smart Home Hall, The Venetian Expo) at CES 2023 from January 5-8 in Las Vegas can experience the interoperability of HCA Member companies’ latest smart home solutions.

LG Unveils Newly Designed InstaView Refrigerators at CES 2021

At the first virtual CES, LG Electronics (LG) will unveil new InstaView Door-In-Door refrigerators that boast upgraded features and design innovators for improved user convenience. The revolutionized side-by-side refrigerator models feature a larger glass panel along with a modern flat door design, new Uvnano technology built into the water dispenser to reduce bacteria, and the exclusive LG Craft Ice inside. LG is also introducing models with new InstaView voice recognition technology to take hands-free convenience to a whole new level.

LG’s iconic InstaView Door-In-Door technology is receiving convenience-enhancing updates in 2021. Helping to minimize cold air loss and extended food freshness, the LG InstaView panel illuminates the interior of the refrigerator with just two quick knocks on the transparent glass so users can see inside without opening the door, while Door-In-Door technology helps organize everyday favorites for quick and easy access to often-used items without having to open the entire refrigerator.

New 2021 side-by-side models offer a larger, more immersive tinted glass panel that complements the new seamless stainless-steel flat door panel design for the ultimate elegant aesthetic never before offered on side-by-side configurations. With a 23 percent larger InstaView window than previous models, seeing what’s inside is easier than ever.

LG’s new InstaView refrigerators also incorporate LG’s Uvnano technology that harnesses the power of light to effortlessly and effectively help maintain a hygienic and germ-free water dispenser. First introduced in 2017 on the company’s most premium water dispenser products Uvnano helps remove up to 99.99 percent of bacteria on the refrigerator’s dispenser after 24 hours.

A CES 2021 Innovation Awards Best of Innovation winner, the new LG InstaView refrigerator with voice recognition makes time spent in the kitchen more productive and more convenient. Consumers no longer have to struggle to open the refrigerator when their hands are full of groceries. New voice recognition technologies let users speak simple voice commands like “Open the refrigerator door.” LG’s interactive voice technology also makes it possible to ask the refrigerator for today’s agenda or to check the status of the ice and water dispensers. And with Amazon Dash Replenishment, homeowners can order replacement water filters automatically by linking their Amazon account with the LG ThinQ app.

Every new InstaView product in the lineup incorporates LG’s proven freshness-enhancing systems, LINEARCooling and DoorCooling+. LINEARCooling minimizes temperature fluctuations – the main cause of food spoilage – while DoorCooling+ simultaneously cools the entire refrigerator compartment evenly by distributing powerful airflow from a strategically positioned vent.

Debuting in InstaView French-Door refrigerators last year, LG Craft Ice is now coming to Side-by-Side InstaView refrigerators in 2021. The two-inch, slow melting ice balls generated by the LG Craft Ice system makes drinks look great while keeping them cool longer.

The 2021 LG Instaview refrigerator lineup will be in display in LG’s virtual exhibition booth during CES 2021.

LG’s latest intelligent processor, the α (Alpha) 9 Gen 4 AI, revamps the performance on the newest LG OLED TV models in the G1 and C1 series, LG QNED MiniLED TV models QNED99 and QNED95 and LG NanoCell TV models NANO99 and NANO95. The processor leverages deep learning to analyze and optimize content, making content of any quality look picture-perfect on the large, self-emissive displays. The α9 Gen 4 processor features AI Picture Pro, which recognizes content, removes noise, and optimizes picture quality. And the new Scene Detection feature can now analyze the type of scene being shown and improve the picture accordingly.

LG’s latest OLED TVs offer an exceptionally intuitive user experience thanks to the company’s updated webOS 6.0 smart TV platform. With a completely redesigned New Home screen as well as performance and feature improvements, webOS 6.0 provides faster access to apps and simpler content discovery capability with even more personalized recommendations. Pared with an improved Magic Remote that includes hot keys for popular content providers, LG’s new webOS offers users the ability to more easily control and navigate LG’s next-generation TVs and the growing webOS ecosystem.

Acknowledged by consumers, tech experts and some of the biggest names in the film industry as the best displays around, LG OLED TVs continue to raise the bar for image quality. With the company’s self-lit pixel technology, the panels featured in the 2021 lineup offer perfect blacks and have been certified as having 100 percent color fidelity by the global testing agency Intertek.

LG OLED TVs have also earned a reputation as the best TVs for both console and PC gaming. LG’s 2021 OLED TVs are equipped with new features such as a Game Optimizer along with a 1 millisecond response time, low input lag and four ports supporting the latest HDMI specifications.

Not only does Game Optimizer, featured in all LG 2021 webOS TVs including QNED MiniLED and NanoCell TVs, allow users the ability to access all game-related settings in one convenient place, but also automatically applies the best picture settings according to the type of game being played, whether it is a first-person shooter, role-playing game or real-time strategy title. For exhilarating big-screen gaming, LG OLED TVs are G-SYNC Compatible, FreeSync Premium supported and feature variable refresh rate (VRR), all of which can be managed within the Game Optimizer.

LG Will Unveil Smart ThinQ Hub at CES 2016

LG logoLG Electronics will unveil its newest addition to its IoT ecosystem, the LG Smart ThinQ Hub, at CES 2016. It features a 3.5-inch color LDC display and serves as a gateway to smart sensors and connected appliances in the home while also displaying reminders from personal calendars and streaming music from its built-in speaker.

The Smart ThinQ Hub monitors, controls, and collects information from home appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, ovens, robotic vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, and a variety of sensors. Data is displayed in the form of notifications on the LCD screen or announced through its speaker of the LG Smart ThinQ Hub, acting as the central “hub” of the smart home. This allows users to communicate via a single device instead of a separate smartphone app for each smart-enabled product.

In addition to its technical innovations, the hub also has aesthetic appeal. The unit features a metallic body in two attractive color schemes: Champagne Gold and Black. The LCD display is tilted at an angle to be easily legible and the internal speaker can stream music from thousands of free stations from either iHeartRadio or Bluetooth-enabled devices.

The LG Smart ThinQ Hub, Smart ThinQ sensor, and other smart technology products will be on display at LG’s booth #8204 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 6-9.
