Another reason to Switch to Firefox

I watch my site statistics very closely and I realize that a lot of you are not paying attention. 72% of you still use Internet Explorer to visit the site and that makes me frown. I suppose old habits die hard.

I can tell you this for every person I have invited to switch to Firefox personally 9 out 10 have thanked me later. Try it for a week cold turkey. Check out the plug-ins they have available. If tabbed browsing is not enough to convince you I have no idea what will. [ZDNet]

Just used Firefox yesterday for the first time. Must say its impressive. Fact is that I’d now now love to set FF as the default browser, BUT its got its wee lil down side!

At work we use the Oracle 11i, and I just can’t get it to load the Oracle application.

Login is successful. On clicking an application – Oracle Payables for example, I get a screen saying
“Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page ….

Upon clcicking, after a while, I get a message saying
    “No suitable plugins were found”

Now, this is what upsets me…. at the very least FF should tell me what plugin it expected and / or is looking for? If I knew what plugin was missing, I could probably look for it on the net or maybe ask some nice soul to make one for me!

Well…. maybe FF ain’t meant to be used for work … rather, maybe its just for fun!

    Cheers!

I’ve been using Firefox since it was first branched off the regular Mozilla code and was still named Phoenix. Best browser in the world, hands down. I weep for those of you that still use IE.

I made the switch about 2 months ago and I have enjoyed the benefits of Firefox. Yes, there are some limitations, however I don’t miss the spyware and popups I got with IE. Also, the bookmark sync extension is a great innovation.

To your original point, many of us are reading your posts through RSS and some newsreaders (like FeedDemon), display webpages in IE with no support for Firefox. I love FeedDemon too much to switch to a Firefox-based news aggregator.

I should point out that FeedDemon CAN use Firefox, but it’s not supported (and I’ve been unsuccessful in getting it to work).

Wow what a grammatical blunder that post was. That’s what happens when I type while angry.

You shouldn’t just assume that this wasn’t a concious, informed decision. Depening on your situation, Firefox’s could be far greater than those of IE.

I don’t like IE, but FF isn’t that great an alternative just yet.
