Verisign set to fight back!

Verisign is not happy that the ICANN rained on there parade and have announced that they are not happy with having to pull there sitefinder site that net users where being sent to when they mistyped a domain name. The fight will continue I am sure that this one will end in additional litigation. [ZDNet]

Analysis of the MediaMax CD3 Copy-Prevention System

Thanks go out to Steve for sending me this link. Being I am observing a self imposed boycott of full length music albums I have not run across any CD's that have this type of Media protection. But you can bet that if I do in the future that I will be re-reading the linked article to make a fair

Court overturns cable-modem rules

In what could be a step in the right direction an federal appeals court today has overruled a FCC decision saying that the FCC made a mistake when it classified Cable Internet as an information service. The ruling basically says that Cable Internet is a telecommunication service. "Consumer groups applauded the decision, which ultimately could lead to rules requiring cable

Microsoft Windows: Simple Security, Strong Security

There are two ways the Microsoft Windows users can protect themselves from common computer risks: 1) update virus signatures every day and 2) use Windows 2000/XP with a screen saver password.

Apple fixes Mac OS X upgrade

Apple has fixed a problem with it's latest upgrade that was causing some systems to no longer communicate with the Ethernet port. The poor saps that have broken machines are being told to download the patch to another machine and then upgrade it. The question I have is how many of those people only have single machines. Ever wish you could call a telemarketer back and bother them!

I have always wanted to be able to call telemarketers back and discuss the weather. After all if I can talk to one of them about the weather for 5 minutes this in turns ensures that 4-5 people will not have the pleasure of slamming the phone down on these idiots. But instead you can call the group that speaks

Computerworld Results of Apple Dual G5

Seems Apple has produced a very powerful machine. The zealots are going to be arguing over it for awhile but Computerworld seems to think that the new machine will outrun any comparable windows machine. This will give the Apple crowd a reason to cheer but at $4200.00 I could buy 2 top of the line windows boxes. [ComputerWorld]

Microsoft to Link Bios to Windows

I can only imagine what Microsoft has planned by making a deal to link windows into the Bios on your motherboard. This has some interesting implications my initial thought was that they would tie in to help prevent pirating of there software. As complicated as some BIOS are becoming I would not mind Windows switching on and off items that

Could Solar Cells become 20% cheaper

Seems a technology breakthrough has the potential to reduce the cost of solar cells by as much as 20% this is very significant and if proven true will have a significant impact. [CNN]

ICANN forced Verisign to remove SiteFinder

Verisign has relented and pulled SiteFinder after pissing off the entire Internet Industry with there dirty little trick. I had one domain still sitting over a Verisign and will be pulling it next week as a small protest. This stunt which required ICANN to get tough for the first time had it's necessary affect. This initially happened while I was

Dead Blogs are stacking up

I know that my personal site does not get much attention as I am usually don't have enough time to keep this one full of new data. The Register reports that the majority of blogs are run by teenage girls and that they usually quit posting after about a year. I found this surprising but they predict that there could
