OnePlus 15 Coming Mid-November

OnePlus has announced that their new flagship smartphone will be coming much sooner than might otherwise have been expected. Launched a few days ago in China, the OnePlus 15 will makes it appearance for the rest of the world on Thursday 13th November. Historically, OnePlus would launch top end models in January – the 10, 11 and 13 all came out in the New Year, though the 12 was a December release – but let’s look forward to a new device rather than worrying about past form.

Much is already know about the OnePlus 15 because of both teasers from OnePlus and obviously the launch in China but there’s still the possibility of different variants for different regions. What has been confirmed is that it’s going to be a driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform and that while the partnership with Hasselblad is no more, the new DetailMax Engine will continue to deliver great photographs. There appears to be a new Ultra-Clear 26MP mode that combines data from multi-frame 12MP photos with a single 50MP high-resolution frame, producing a final 26MP photo with improved detail, especially in typically difficult textures such as fur and fabric. I know this can be challenging from trying to photograph my black cat.

Rumours suggest that the 15 will come with display that has a lower resolution (FHD+) in comparison with the 13 (QHD+) but will have a really high refresh rate. The Chinese version will be coming with a whopping 7,300 mAh battery but whether that makes it into the RoW model will be interesting. We’ll find out more in a few weeks…
