Microsoft Locking Out Pirates?

Nice to see that the rumor mill is alive well on the net. Turns out that Microsoft is not locking out pirates that have submitted their data through the “Windows Genuine Advantage anti-piracy campaign. Microsoft is saying the rumors are BS. On a semi related subject a friend of my Wife’s called and asked me how she could get a version of the Windows XP Japanese version. When I told her to buy it she did not seem real happy with my response, and proceeded to ask me how to avoid the registration process. I responded by telling her that the days of stealing software was over and it would be best if she went out and purchased a legal copy.

The best move Microsoft made earlier this year was with the Student edition of Microsoft Office 2003. Luckily we met the license requirements and could get the version. I was pleasantly surprised that we could install it on 3 computers. Microsoft needs to do more of this with consumer versions of their software. Americans are now buying a computer for each member of the family. I am already stressed about having to buy 4 of everything before they get out of here.
