I noticed upon my return to the blog after not posting for 12 days that the amount of Spam that was put on the site while I was away was staggering. I had nearly 500 comments that where purely spam. What is interesting is as soon as I put my blacklist tool to work cleaning up that mess the spam stopped coming in almost immediately. It is obvious that the spammers know when a weblog is not being updated making it prime target of spammers. This plays into a theory being bounced around which I will let you read yourself but I am in complete agreement with the thoughts expressed on the referenced article. [scottwater.com]
