321Studio’s sued by Gaming Industry

Seems like 321Studio’s has a target on their forehead. No company in recent time has had to defend it’s product line as much as they have. I want everyone to really think about what has been happening over there.

They have been attacked again and again for one reason only, companies, organizations do not want you the consumer to have fair use of software, movies, music and any other media that you have purchased.

The question we have to ask is what is fair use? My personal definition is that I should be able to record movies, make copies of music and make backup copies of all media that I own. This is not to say that fair use includes letting my buddy have a copy of that media it is meant so that law abiding citizens can be assured that they can recover from a scratched disk or other catastrophic event.

I have a safe deposit box in a local bank and when we rented it we opted for the largest box size they have. In it I have 4-5 200 gig hard-drives it contains backups of my 500+ Music CD collection all of the software I have purchased over the years and backups of my servers that I run here at the house plus insurance policies etc. So if god forbid we had a fire or had a break in I would have a recovery plan. But if the Gaming Industry, MPAA, RIAA had their way and gets restrictions in place and prosecutes every company that comes out with a tool to help people like me make copies of my media in the future I may no longer be able to create backup for what I consider fair use.

Stay active in the fight to assure you rights to fair use. 321Studio’s has a very good newsletter that all of you should subscribe it includes company news and information about their fight against the political machine.
