Fascinating Referral Log

They say curiosity killed the cat, well when I look thru my referral logs to see where this website readership is coming from I end up scratching my head a little bit. I know we get a lot of traffic from Media Companies, Aerospace Industry, Wireless Companies, VC Firms, Cable Companies, Military Domains, Commercial Broadband Installers, Internal IP’s from Telephone companies, Law-Firms, etc. The list goes on and on and I am amazed by the diversity. I must note that it is interesting to see what the Law-Firms are reading on the site but so far no cease and desist letters.

I have a very good handle on how many are using aggreators to read the site nearly 22,000 unique IP’s are pulling our content via an aggreator. I know our site come pre-installed on 3-4 aggreators so we may be getting pulled by a lot of people by default. So it is hard to judge how many people have manually added us.

I am quite pleased with the traffic levels as we have had increasing readership each month of our 19 month’s of existence, the last three months show a 15-17% increase in readership every month. I am quite humbled that we are getting as many hits as we are and I appreciate the support.

I hope that the upcoming year will continue to see those numbers increase. Many of you have made some comments over the past year I want to address.

The majority of the time I work 12-15 hours a day at my job that puts
meat and potato’s on my dinner table. There can be times when I am writing articles at midnight or very early in the morning. Like most of you I am not at my best in the early morning or very late at night. This is usually when I get complaints about grammatical errors, unfortunately it happens. When you have spent the day dealing with management and dealing with everyday paperwork drudgery that piles up on ones desk I am usually burned out when I get home. So when you want to be critical look at the time of the post and understand that I cannot be grammatically correct all of the time. I feel it is better to get the story out versus no new information so please try to understand that this site besides it’s volunteer editors is a one man show. Some will continue to bash me regardless of what I post but if they did not like the content they wouldn’t visit.

I am truly a geek, in my regular job I work with advanced electronic technology that if I talked about in depth here you all would be bored and not visit. As a longtime software beta tester and also having been responsible for software development and managing large teams of people employing new technology I have a insiders perspective on things that many people will never experience. So I hope my perspective on technology and where we have been and where we are going will help you help you in formulating an opinion that may not always be the same as mainstream news venues.
