Many of you read highlights of Geek News from our XML, RDF feeds. I read 99.9% of all the news you find here on Geek News via my favorite Aggreator Newz Crawler. As I find sites I like I add their RSS feed to my aggreator. Many times those authors have their favorites reads list on their site, which I can also import their OPML file. This can add up to a lot of sites you can aggreate you can then read and filter the news your looking for.
But like the preceding story I was unable to find a feed for the site. Recently another weblogger has been having the same problems and was pulling out his hair trying to find feeds for sites.
There are a few tools out that help you find the feed. Google search results will provide a link to those that have crawlable RSS icons on their sites.
Example if you click this google search link you will see that they have indexed our XML page and you can easily add it to your aggreator.
So what do you do when the site does not support the auto discovery protocol.
If your favorite site does not have a public link then you can try Syndic8 they have a reference article for there site tools that help find sites feeds. If your site isn’t listed on Syndic8 you need to suggest it so that it can be added.
