42 Million Pirated CD’s and DVD’s Captured

Just to think that the idiots over at the RIAA and MPAA are worried about P2P networks. This haul in China is probably less than 1% of 1% of all pirated CD’s and DVD’s anyone that has traveled to any country in Asia knows they can buy pirated DVD’s and CD’s for about 10 cents on the dollar. Sometimes the CD are cheaper than what I can buy at local computer store for blank disk.

This is why the prosecution of P2P users is so ridiculous. I have even seen services now in Asia where you take a empty hard drive into a store and they will fill it with software, games, movies for a flat fee per gigabyte. Imagine taking a bunch of empty hard drives with you on vacation getting them filled to the rim and coming home with that data you would be the most popular person in your neighborhood.

Copyright laws exist in the United States to keep American Citizens spending American Dollars in American Stores to keep Recording Industry and Movie Industry executives living in big houses on top of big hills. It does nothing to protect those it was supposed to protect which is the Artist and the Authors of works that are being stolen in virtually every country outside of the United States. [CNN]
