Wow what a year!!!!

This year has been a great one for me, some of you have figured out my regular day job via some of the links on this page and know what has happened in the adventure that puts bread and butter on my families table.

Some of you graduated from my expermental site to this one I think the transition was a smart one and we have learned a great deal in the process.

I am by no means a great writer if my English teacher from High School would happen to overview this site with her red marking pen I would be lucky to get a “D” but for some of you that seems not to make a difference.

What do we have in store for you in 2003? Well that depends on world events. I had hoped by this time we would have had a bunch of editors contributing but I guess that is not meant to be at this point. So like the thousand of other sites out there we will continue to post what we think interest you. I have watched the statistics meter and article number 269 continues to get the most traffic of any article on the site. I guess a lot of you decided to flip Microsoft the bird and are trying to figure out how to get you hacked version of XP running.

We made the plunge this month and upgraded all of our desktops and laptops to XP Professional and I have several servers still running Windows NT which I will upgrade when the machine says Uncle and are forced to replace it. I did a end year baseline backup and we have gold backups of every machine.

I continue to be distressed over my BBS at www.bbsnets.com it has the most hours and nearly 2 terabytes of data stored on multiple hard drives on multiple machines. I am in no way rich and currently the system has the largest Shareware archive on the planet there are programs on there that are 15 years old. I need a offline backup storage solution I can afford and to be able to store that much data is not cheap. I am hoping that DVD burner technology will grow so I can do a poor man’s backup.

If you have not visited BBS Networks check it out the site was on dial-up in the 80’s and transitioned to the Internet in the 90’s and continues to be my primary hobby. Some Men have cars, Some Men have Women my addiction is the Net and technology. Don’t get me wrong wife and family come first.

I am rambling along here. I am going to post a bunch of stuff tonight but will take a day or two off starting on the 31st. Not a lot is happening in the tech world at the moment as everyone is trying to recharge there batteries.

I have an open Invitation if you share my vision and want to become a Editor here at Geek News Central send me a e-mail that is full of conviction on why you feel you are worthy to post and I will give you a go.
