Panel Participant at Podcast Expo

A month or so ago Tim Bourquin of TNC Media asked me if I would be willing to be on a panel during Podcast Expo. He asked me to be on the Panel titled “Monetize with Ads and Sponsorship: Use An Advertising Service or Sell Your Own?” being that I have sold my own, and actually run a advertising service for over 500 podcasters this was a good fit. The panel is made up of some other firms that represent podcasters and should be a lively discussion as all of our models are a little different.

Podcast Expo audio sessions are all online now!

I want to thank Tim and his crew for getting all of the sessions audio online. Their are very few conferences if any that would put all of their sessions online this soon after a conference. I encourage all podcasters and those that are thinking of starting a podcast to go and listen to all the sessions. I will definitely be downloading all of them and going through the ones I personally missed. [Friday Sessions] [Saturday Sessions]

Bandwidth is going to be a Issue

Talking with the Marriott Hotel staff tonight they were bragging that they had a T1 installed and have never had a problem handling the bandwidth. I asked them if they have every had a hotel full of guest that were trying to upload files at the same time and that everyone that was coming would be publishing audio files to their servers.

The manager got a little pale and I told him your network will be lucky to survive and you better make some calls or your going to have some pissed off guest. They have no idea the avalanche of data consumption and pushed traffic that is about to demanded of that poor little T1.

So if their is a Podcast tomorrow it will by pure luck because I know that traffic is going to be a issue.

Podcast Connect Inc. fully committed to Podcast Expo

I knew many months ago that the Podcast Expo being held here in Ontario California this coming Friday and Saturday would be a major event. TNC Media has been fully supportive of the initiatives that I have put together at Podcast Connect in regards to the People Choice Podcast Awards. We will be handing out twenty awards on Friday night to all the deserving shows that were picked by the people. Our resources are not large but we have committed time and money to making sure we were their. Nothing in this world is free and when people expect a free ride it is a insult to those of us that have invested a great deal of time and money to the success of the event. I look forward to seeing you at the Podcast Awards Ceremony on Friday night.

Listening to a certain podcaster today, say that he should have been given a free ride makes me want to gag. [Wired]

On Location of the Podcast Expo

I am all in place in Ontario and it looks like Federal Express has everything here that was supposed to be. Met up with Doug Kaye from IT Conversations and Paul Figgiani from Podcast Rigs and chatted for a couple of hours. Doug says nearly 75 people are signed up for the all day training session tomorrow and I am very happy about that. Connectivity tomorrow will be limited but I should get updates out late in the day.

Ohh and here is a little tip start watching the Podcaster News Network site late Thursday night!

Podcast Awards Ceremony at Podcast Expo!

I have been really busy getting ready for the Podcast Awards ceremony at Podcast Expo. Trophies are due to be finished next week, the grand prize awards have been ordered. The ceremony program is in final design phase, and will be going to the printer next week. We have banners due to be ordered at Kinkos this Saturday a couple of the guys from techpodcasts.com will be photographing the event.

We need someone to video tape the event, looking for a podcaster of video caster volunteer.

I am pretty excited about November as I have several major initiatives that are underway. The Podcaster News Network is set to launch, the gang is working hard at TechPodcasts.com to move to phase two of that site, and I have some things up my sleeve that I have been working on over at Podcast Connect.

The list does not stop there we are looking for a marketing manager and content manager to join the team at RawVoice.com. I plan on having a bag of swag when I show up at the Podcast Expo so if you come talk to me I will be sure to have something for ya to take home.

We are working very hard to make sure we have a live stream of the Podcast Awards Ceremony, should be a lot of fun for all! Their is nothing like boot strapping a business though lots of fun but exhausting to say the least.
