Canon Showing Off 30-inch 4K Industrial Video Display at NAB

Canon has announced that from April 16-19 they will be at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show that is taking place next week in Las Vegas.  One of the big new items they are bringing with them is a 30 inch industrial video display that handles the next-generation 4K video standard.

“Canon is currently developing a 30-inch 4K resolution industrial display as a 4K video output device realizing faithful color reproduction and high-resolution, high-contrast performance. Canon will exhibit a prototype of the video display from April 16 to 19 at NAB Show 2012, the world’s largest international digital event for audio, video, film, broadcast and communications, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A.”

This is strictly a prototype of a monitor that is still under development, so don’t expect to see it on the market any time soon.  However, there has been talk of the movie industry moving to 4K in the future and Canon plans to be prepared for that possible inevitability.  Canon does specify that, while they don’t have pricing or specifications available at this time, they have every intention of having this new display on the market before the end of 2012.

Recon Instruments Head Up display for Skiers

Recon Instruments shows Todd their heads up display for skiers, snowboarders and alpine sport enthusiasts. The display will give you a “dashboard” type display inside of your goggles that tells you speed, altitude, distance traveled, height of your jump and a whole lot more. It even gives you GPS data and with the Android powered version will allow other apps. It will even give you caller ID for an incoming call so you can decide if it’s worth stopping and answering the phone. It will, however, not let you text, make calls or answer calls while skiing. (And you thought driving while texting was a problem). The unit is installed in the goggles and is controlled by a bluetooth remote that can be worn just about anywhere on your body and is very tough.

The android version is $399 and the Non-Android version is $299.
