Comcast Xfinity App Now Available for Android

It has taken a while, but this weekend Comcast has finally rolled out a  streaming app for Android devices.  The new Xfinity app lets users choose from thousands of on-demand movies and TV shows and stream then right to their phone or tablet.  Shows are available from premium channels as well as standard cable so you can get content from HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax, TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network BBC America, and others.  In addition, you can choose from new-to-video movies that are in the on-demand lineup.  The app also features parental control settings.

There are, of course, a few catches.  First you will need to be running Android 2.3 or higher.  That shouldn’t be an issue for most users.  Second, and this is the big one, you have to be a Comcast customer and you can only watch content from channels that you are subscribed to.  The good news is that the app is free.  You can grab a copy over at the Google Play Store.
