Earth911 Recycling

Jennifer Berry from the Web site Earth911 talked about the Earth911 site and their iPhone and iPad apps. Earth911 is the nations largest recycling center and has been in business for over 20 years. Once you are on the site you enter the item you want to recycle and then your location and Earth911 will tell who in your area will recycle the product. You can also do your search through their free iPhone app called iRecycle . On the app you can check to see if there are any events in the area. They also offer some great articles about recycling and other green issues. The Ipad app has an almost real-time map of what people are searching to recycle across the country, as the person enters the item they are trying to recycle and their location the search will pop up on the map. They also offer a hotline for those who rather use that method.

According to Jennifer Berry Earth911 is big into educating the consumer on the benefits of recycling. They work with states and local governments to make recycling easier for everyone. She said that she believed that the three states with the most searches were California, New York and Texas. On the site there are several great articles not only about recycling, but about the Detroit Auto Show using local produce and even an article on the debate about clotheslines among many more.
