Leopard, A Faux Pas With Musicians

After having had several hours of frustration trying to solve the problems that have appeared with my “music rig” since I updated to OS X 10.5.2, I am somewhat relieved to know that the problem seems to be universal. (It’s not just me!)

The folks at CreateDigitalMusic.com have documented issues with the latest incarnation of Leopard with M-Audio and Digidesign (makers of ProTools.) CreateDigitalMusic.com’s Peter Kirn says he’s still using Tiger for his music machines and adds that he “can’t recommend Leopard in its current state.”

Kirn’s article on the subject includes detailed statements from several top audio software company execs, including M-Audio GM Niels Larson and Digidesign’s Customer Service Head, Bob Langlie and GM, Dave Lebolt, who believes that the 10.5.2 upgrade actually undoes fixes made in the previous release.
