Hey don’t shoot the messenger the above article title was used on MacWorld.com and while I agree that the title is a bit sensational. The referenced article has a very good interview on the reality of Mac OS security.
I have been saying for a very long time that most Mac users are in denial when it comes to security of their operating system, most think that the Mac OS has no security concerns . My contention is that humans create code, and code is meant to be broken. With the growing number of Mac users out their incentives will start to grow to exploit the OS including hackers writing Viruses for it.
Their are some tell tale signs that Apple may be getting a bit compliant as well when it comes to security is in the closing comments of the article the person being interviewed who won a Mac hacking challenge made the following comment.
“I have found the code quality, at least in terms of security, to be much better overall in Vista than Mac OS X 10.4”
The Mac fan-boys are about to hyperventilate of course over this, so make sure you read the 80+ comments of denial and non reasonable thinking. MacWorld.com

Perhaps Apple does need to work on their security more now.
But let’s not forget that the last hack a Mac contest actually had to relax it’s rules in order to have a winner. The hack actually was a Quicktime flaw that also potentially effects the Windows version as well. Apple just patched these though.
I always say that if someone is motivated enough, they will find a way to crack anything; it’s only a matter of time. In the mean time, I will update my iMac as needed.
Of course, I still don’t think you’ve lived until you’ve had your Windows directory eaten by a trojan. :)
Steve Gibson said much the same on Security now.
