After looking at what all the excitement surrounding the Google News RSS feeds, and having subscribing to a couple of the categories, I have almost the same exact opinion that Dave has. I think this comment from Dave is dead on.
“Big software companies, or BigCo’s for short, just can’t leave well enough alone. They always try to &^%$ with technology they didn’t invent, for a lot of complicated reasons I’ve spent an entire career trying to understand. It’s not powerful, or interesting — it’s childish and self-defeating, but it’s evident in both BigCo strategies for RSS.
That quote is sort of out of context, but if you subscribe to one of the rss feeds look at their implementation and then read his entire post then this one and, you will understand that his comments hit home. Don’t be so fast to buy into the hype because this time I am definitely looking at their implementation with a critical eye.
