As the Earths tilt changes so does Mars and as Mars moves into Winter there is less sunlight each day for the rovers batteries to re-charge. Being one of Opportunities heater switches has had a malfunction the heater has remained on the entire time. Engineers are going to send up some code to get that heaters power source turned off. They are also going to revise the rovers wakeup schedule. Time will tell how long the rovers are going to last. With dust in the air and no one there to wipe the dust off the solar panels it is only a mater of time before the rovers are no longer able to re-charge the batteries. [CNN]
