I wanted to give everyone a follow up on what happened to my wife’s desktop last night as you all know the motherboard let the smoke out and I had a dead machine late last night. It worked out that I was on standby to fly out this afternoon and was at the house this morning so I was able to be a local computer store first thing sharp this morning with sharecheck card in hand.
The motherboard I had in mind was out of stock but being this was not a gaming machine and all she uses it for using word, outlook and a few digital imaging programs I bought a ASUS A7V600 with a AMD XP2500 chip and re-utilized a DDR 233 512 MB Ram stick I pulled off the old board.
Install was easy but when I booted it up the Bios had a hell of a time finding one of my drives for some odd reason a couple of tweaks and it loaded and Windows XP did it’s thing and she was back in business overall easiest motherboard replacement I have ever done. [ASUS]
