I had to laugh when I read this and wanted to relate a story. Right after 9-11 I had to load up and travel to a location that was quite remote. I went 78 days in a virtual communications black-out. Talk about having a 12 step program forced upon you. Except this wasn’t 12 step it was one step. I nearly panicked but after several weeks found myself writing letters again. This is something I had not done in years yet it was a tough 78 days. What was even more amazing was the first time I opened outlook and downloaded all the e-mail. There where literally 20,000 messages waiting for me. I ended up deleting big blocks of spam and probably mistakenly deleted legitimate e-mails but hey 20,000 messages was just to much to go through.
So I am not surprised by the BBS article that talks about stress levels when being cut off from the Internet. If you think that is bad turn off all your circuit breakers in your house and see how long you can live without electricity. [BBC]
