We all have had friends that were absolutely wonderful people but always had a hard time of it in school. Obviously there are people out there that are really smart so smart in fact that they have no common sense.
I had a neighbor friend who would at times get on the school bus in the spring with a winter jacket on when the rest of us were wearing t-shirts. But she was a very smart individual that got pre-occupied from time to time. Today I think she has 2-3 master degrees and probably her doctorate. The whole family was smart. Many speculate that the Gene’s you inherit from your parents is a big determining factor in how smart your going to be.
I also believe that smart parents do smart things with their kids early on and make them explore and use their brain. It appears that some Scientist are looking at way to manipulate genes to make those that have lower IQ ranges smarter. When I read this I nearly fell out of my chair. Can you imagine the social implications it is not even fathomable to me what they are considering.
The last thing I want is a planet full Einstein’s but it brings up some interesting discussion points that are worth pondering and talking about around the water cooler. If we can help those that are truly needy I am all for it but like anything else smart people will want to become smarter and the Rich will abuse this technology. [www.newscientist.com]
