A very informative article got the old gears spinning in my head today. When the Internet was invented without restrictions so long as you could connect to it and you could communicate with TCP/IP you could bring the full resources of your company to bear and bring programs, tools, content and innovation to life.
All of us want it to remain that way but there may be fancy footwork going on behind the scenes to bring Internet innovation under control. Certain companies are working the political machine mainly the FCC to try and get a leash on things.
This should not be a surprise as this has been going on for a while. I think we are all aware of it. They do it in baby steps first thing was illegal content, next is controlling how much bandwidth you use, along with a myriad of other items and finally ISP’s want to control the appliances run thru there networks and control innovations.
Mark my words there will come a time when we will have to do grass roots work to regain freedoms we once had. This sort of goes against what I wrote about the other day but I think the censorship issues is different all togther.
This article is a must read for everyone that follows the articles I reference on this site. [FT.COM]
