I read a great article today by Dan Gilmore that talks about the effect of the technologist getting in bed and snuggling up close with the telecom industry. I have been a pundit for years that until we have a shift in thinking broadband to every door step is not going to happen any time soon.
When will we see it, my bet is in another 20 years. What is holding Corporate America back goes much deeper, decisions made today will cause us to be stuck with infrastructure deals made in desperation today. More importantly monopolies that will force feed you what they want and not what you and I really need. I can imagine that someday we will have a new amendment to the constitution that will lay out our digital rights. Great article non the less. [SiliconValley.com]
