When companies go belly up they many times take with them the software that was developed forever lost. This has happened to me several times when I was using a nice software package and the company fell of the face of the earth. Well Blender went belly up but they had the forsite to release the software as GPL thus the thousands of programming hours that went into it’s development it not lost. Nice move! [www.blender.org]
