Rednote enables a user to embed a snippet of audio within a text note. Similar to how you would embed a image, only instead of a photo its is a bit of audio. Rednote has a list of categories including sad, happy, romantic and each category has a list of appropriate songs underneath it. You tap on the song you want to use and it gives you a 5- 19 second clip which you can embed into a text note. At this time you can not create your own clip. It took Rednote over 2 years to get the licensing rights to the clips of the songs they have available.
Rednote just announce a partnership with the Heywire texting app. Rednote currently works directly within the Heywire Android version only. Heywire is working to upgrade their iOs version so Rednote will soon be included in it also. Rednote will also work with native SMS programs such as iOS Messages, where song snippets appear as a link that leads the receiver to a sponsored landing page that will play the clip.
