Having Feedburner Issues?.. Well I Told You So!

2009-feedburnerdownOhh how people are crying about the pain they are suffering through lost listeners and lost readers because feedburner has become less reliable.

Those of you that bashed me in the past for telling you that you better be in control of your own RSS feed well guess what your screwed!

If you would have listened to me, you would be up and running with no issues. You know why? I control my own RSS feed and not some third party service.

BTW I really don’t have an opinion on this.. Ohh Just check this Link

Android for Pre likely, with or without Palm

In my article on Pre last week I mentioned that Palm would do well to investigate having an Android or Windows Mobile version. According to Engadget, if Palm does not put out an Android version, the hacker community might do it for them. Given that the processor in their phone is not a proprietary one it should be possible for someone to do provided they can get access to the bootloader.

I believe it is in Palm’s best interest to get an Android version out to market before the ‘jailbreak’ versions start. If they do they will retain control of their platform. I am also pretty sure they will also gain a huge amount of geek cred and accelerate their market share.

Welcome to the Real World!

2009-changeI can just hear them screaming at the top of their lungs. Imagine going from having your iPhone, Mac or Updated PC and having access to every program under the sun to walk into the White House to find Windows Machines that are probably running Windows 2000 with heavily dated software.

Not only that but being blocked by the big federal firewall in the sky. Try going to Facebook, Twitter or Gmail. They probably got a very familiar “this site is not authorized”.

Want to change the screen background? Better put in a trouble ticket because you can bet that to do that you need admin permissions.

Oh an do not even try emailing a document over 2–3 megs, don’t put a USB stick in the machine, don’t try and install your own applications, because on a federal computer the IT Nazi has monitoring programs setup that will simply close you network connection if you try to back door in something that is not authorized.

Ohh an good luck getting it turned back on right away, you may find yourself signing a stack of papers promising not to do that again. I just wonder if the President has to put in his CAC card and enter a ridiculously long password to login.

I just wonder how many months it is going to take to get some Macs into the White House.

Wikipedia Nazi’s Remove my Entry after 4 years

wikipedia todd cochraneIn 2005 someone added me to Wikipedia In the four years that the listing was online it was updated by fans and other followers.

Sadly some Wikipedia Nazi removed it from the Index. I suppose I became un-famous  on a realistic note it totally jacks up the Google Search Index because they redirected my listing to some other person with the same name minus the “e” on the end of the name.

While it does not bother me that much it was kinda cool while it lasted.

Apperance on Andy Bumatai Show in Hawaii

2009-andybumataiThis coming Friday I will be a guest on the Andy Bumatai Show here in Honolulu. The program is aired at 9:35pm on KFVE or better known as K5.

Andy has been gracious enough to offer up my video segment after the show, so I will be able to syndicate it out for my Ohana on the podcast feed. The subject for the show is New Media and I look forward to spending some time on with a couple of other Hawaii New Media folks.

What is interesting is that one of the guest that will be on comes from Mountain Apple Company, one of Hawaii’s biggest music and entertainment companies. Sadly Mountain Apple has yet to allow podcasters who revolutionized new media, to promote their artist music (they should) it is interesting that the have a New Media Director. While I understand they are promoting via social media I will be curious to see what they are actually creating in the new media space.

Another guest will be my good friend Ryan Ozawa who has the twitter name #hawaii. Ryan is a long time podcaster here in Hawaii. Ryan is most famous for his Lost podcast called “The Transmission.

Should be a fun show. I have appeared in the past on Fox Business and a number of other TV shows. One thing about TV you only have a single shot at it so you have to be on your A game.

Japanese Cell Phone and Unlimited Data Plan Rentals

I have had a dilemma over the past few days. I am getting ready to do a whirlwind tour of Japan. Where I will stay from night to night may be a challenge and I absolutely had to have Internet access 24×7

Japanese Cell RentalI know that Japan has significant wireless offerings but I did not want to get hammered for several thousand dollars just for a couple of weeks of coverage with pre-paid phones which are readily available but no cheap when it comes to data plans.

So I reached out on Twitter and did some Google searches. While I did not find the site through a direct search I did find a site from a company based here in Honolulu that you can rent phones and wireless cards from.

They deliver the phone and wireless card to me a few days before I get to Japan. My local cell phone is forwarded to the new number while I am gone and business is as usual.

Having a hacked iPhone did not allow me to simply change sims or add a international plan and I really did not want to have to spend a couple of hours finding coverage once I got there.

While I will pay around $300.00 for three weeks the grantee of having unlimited bandwidth on a fat pipe and a cell phone that has a local Japanese number to do business on is well worth the price.

This is not the perfect solution for someone that travels to Asia a lot but it is a solution for the periodic traveler. The Hawaii company I went with is www.jcrcorp.com check them out!

I will give you all a review when I get back.. Of course you can keep up with me while I live stream from Japan.
